1. Elaborate on your default icon. It's Mitsuki from Ultraman Max. I like 'em cute and spunky.
2. What's your current relationship status? Married to The Redhead.
3. Ever have a near-death experience? A few, but then again, too few to mention. In seriousness, the one I remember was nearly drowning when I was 8 or 9.
4. Name an obvious quality you have. I'm a smartass.
5. What's the name of the song that's stuck in your head right now? Keep Me In Your Heart by Warren Zevon.
6. Name a celebrity you would marry. None. No one could ever compare to The Redhead.
7. Who will cut and paste this first? Thoth, Trix or Jocko.
8. Has anyone ever said you look like a celebrity? This is the question that did me in. When my hair gets long and bushy, I'm told I resemble George Lucas. I was also once mistaken for Cardinal pitcher Dave LaPoint many years ago, and no, that wasn't a compliment.
9. Do you wear a watch? Nope.
10. Do you have anything pierced? Nope. There's that whole "pain" issue.
11. Do you have any tattoos? See #10.
12. Do you like pain? When I'm gorked to the gills, maybe.
13. Do you like to shop? Depends on what I'm shopping for. Books, yes. Clothes, oh hell no.
14. What was the last thing you paid for with cash? Lunch.
15. What was the last thing you paid for with your credit card? A round-trip ticket to St. Louis via Southwest.
16. Who was the last person you spoke to on the phone? The Redhead. La Shelberina before that.
17. What is on your desktop background? At work, one of the Altimit backgrounds from .hack//SIGN. At home, an El-Hazard shot of Shayla-Shayla and Afura Mann.
18. What is the background on your cell phone? A shot of Mitsuki (see #1) and Elly (same show). Before that it was the animated Justice League.
19. What was the last movie you watched?Death Note. And man, I had to THINK about that one.
20. What was the last book you read? Currently reading Papa Bear: The Life and Legacy of George Halas by Jeff Davis. Before that, Wintersmith by Terry Pratchett.

Lambert Airport's East Terminal on a Monday morning is not a fun place to be. Having opted for a quick breakfast with the Redhead before my departure, I ended up at the tail end of a very long and winding line of passengers waiting to show their ID and ticket information, remove their shoes and submit themselves to the ritual humiliation of The Screening.

As I made my way through the line, I noticed that Security had three lines going with someone at the forefront telling people which line to take. A very nice woman behind me, no doubt as tired of the mess as I was, starting singing "To the left, to the left" under her breath.

I damn near died laughing. It made my day.

And I'm willing to bet a number of you have no idea where that comes from. :)

So....as you might recall, back on 8/4 I had some dental work done. Biiiiig honkin' chunk of tooth out, and a nice temporary inlay to tide me over until the permanent was ready. Say...two weeks or so.

You have to be careful when you have a temp. No gum, no sticky stuff, nothing that could loosen the thing. I've had a few; I know what I can and can't do. So everything was cool...until yesterday. I went over to Whole Foods to grab some lunch; while I was at it, I saw some aged gouda samples and couldn't resist. As I ate the sample, I crunched down on a dried-out old piece and gently spit it out, then tossed it in the trash.

A minute later, I realized that no, that wasn't old cheese. That was my temporary.

Bugger.

So...I'm stuck for the moment. I can clean the area and put some orthodontic wax in the cavity for momentary relief, but that usually comes out during/after a meal, so I have to keep my gear close by. And forget about coffee. My dentist is going to find out how things stand with the inlay tomorrow, and if he can squeeze me in, I'm going to make a quick drive back to St. Louis ASAP, even if it's just to get another temporary. Because this is driving me up the flippin' wall...
