Milestone Creator Dwayne McDuffie has died.

I never got the chance to meet Dwayne, though I did correspond with him several times over the past ten years. He was on my list of "people I have GOT to meet". He was one of the most intelligent, insightful, humorous and gracious people I've ever interacted with.

Back in the deep dark past I did a review of Milestone's "Icon: A Hero's Welcome" for Psycomic--my one and only professional piece. (BTW--I gave it a glowing review). A few years later I sent him some CD's of the first six Eccleston Doctor Who episodes (obtained through the usual nefarious means). He asked how he could repay me, and I jokingly suggested he donate some copies of the Icon graphic novel to some book-related charities.

And he said "Done."

Great writer, great individual. He is going to be sorely missed.
