	Hang up and drive, dammit!
	In the past five days, I've driven between Omaha and St. Louis and Omaha & Lincoln. And to the nitwits out there who think they can safely operate a motor vehicle and chat happily away on their cell phones all the while, I say: No you can't. You're so busy chatting with your friends about nothing in particular that you're not watching your speed, you're not watching the cars who are trying to get around you because you're yakking instead of driving, you are endangering yourself and anyone who has the misfortune to be around you. THERE IS NOTHING SO DAMN IMPORTANT THAT REQUIRES YOU TO ANSWER THE DAMN PHONE WHILE YOU'RE DRIVING, AND IF THERE IS, JUST PULL OVER SOMEWHERE AND TAKE THE CALL THEN! I am trying to teach my daughter good driving habits. You're not helping...unless it's to serve as a bad example. SO KNOCK IT THE HELL OFF. JSM

Amen, brother.

Nothing terrifies me as much as seeing people drive while talking on their cellphone, even the "hands-free" variety. This may have something to do with how much time I've spent looking on local drivers, qua pedestrian.

My cellphone is off when driving. The voicemail's there for a reason; they can leave a message if it's important.

People who make excessive use of their cellphones are just inconsiderate people. They probably don't think they are – they probably don't even realize they're being that way. Which in itself is proof, I guess. While driving is certainly the most fatal of their ambivalence to anyone other than themselves, but this next one is IMO the most annoying:

Guy With Phone: "—so yeah, Joseph told me not to buy you anymore of that stuff, because you can't seem to handle it as well as OH SHIT HOLD ON MAN I'M IN A DARK SITUATION HERE I JUST WALKED INTO THIS ROOM WITH LIKE SIX OTHER PEOPLE IN IT SO I HAVE RAISE MY VOICE ACCORDINGLY TO TEN TIMES ITS NORMAL VOLUME LEST YOU BE UNABLE TO HEAR WHAT I WOULD BE SAYING OTHERWISE OVER THEIR CACOPHONOUS DIN OH WAIT THEY AREN'T EVEN TALK WELL BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY CAN U HEAR ME NOW"
